เมื่อวันที่ 14 มิถุนายน 2567 เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเฮก ได้เข้าร่วมการเสวนาในหัวข้อ “The Challenging Global Landscape: Public & Private Sectors in the Crosshairs” ในงาน 2024 International Conference จัดโดยมูลนิธิ Workplace Pride 

 

ในโอกาสนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้ให้ข้อมูลเกี่ยวกับ พ.ร.บ. ความเท่าเทียมระหว่างเพศ พ.ศ. 2558 และพัฒนาการของร่างกฎหมายสมรสเท่าเทียม รวมถึงแบ่งปันประสบการณ์เกี่ยวกับพลวัตของประเทศที่นำไปสู่การเห็นชอบร่างดังกล่าว 

 

เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เน้นย้ำว่า พัฒนาการและความสำเร็จในไทยเป็นความพยายาม ความทุ่มเท การสนับสนุน และความมุ่งมั่นในการส่งเสริมสังคมที่มีส่วนร่วมและขับเคลื่อนด้วยสิทธิ ร่วมกันกว่าทศวรรษของผู้มีส่วนได้ส่วนเสียที่หลากหลาย รวมถึงรัฐบาล องค์กรภาคประชาสังคม ผู้สนับสนุน LGBTIQ+ และประชาชนทั่วไป 

 

เมื่อวันที่ 18 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2567 ที่ประชุมวุฒิสภาได้เห็นชอบร่างกฎหมายสมรสเท่าเทียม  ทำให้ประเทศไทยกลายเป็นประเทศแรกในเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ และประเทศที่สามในเอเชีย ที่ให้การยอมรับความเท่าเทียมในการสมรส โดยร่างกฎหมายดังกล่าว กำหนดให้การสมรสเป็นการสมรสระหว่าง “บุคคล” สองฝ่าย 

 

On 14 June 2024, Ambassador Asi Mamanee participated in the Executive Panel Discussion titled “The Challenging Global Landscape: Public & Private Sectors in the Crosshairs” at the 2024 International Conference , organized by the Workplace Pride Foundation. 

 

During this event, the Ambassador shared insights into Thailand's progress, highlighting the Gender Equality Act of 2015 and developments in the draft marriage equality bill.        

                       

The Ambassador underscored that these advancements are the culmination of over a decade of concerted efforts by diverse stakeholders, including the government, civil society organizations, LGBTIQ+ advocates, and citizens alike.

 

The journey towards these achievements reflects years of dedication, advocacy, and a steadfast commitment to fostering an inclusive and rights-driven society. By uniting efforts, these stakeholders have made significant strides towards positive change, aiming to create a world that embraces inclusivity for all.

 

On 18 June 2024, the Senate approved the marriage equality bill, marking a historic milestone for Thailand as the first country in Southeast Asia and the third in Asia to recognize marriage equality. This legislation redefines marriage as a union between two individuals, ensuring equal rights for LGBTQI+ couples and reaffirming Thailand's commitment to equality and human rights.
