เมื่อวันที่ 13 มีนาคม 2567 นายอสิ ม้ามณี เอกอัครราชทูต ณ กรุงเฮก ได้ยื่นหนังสือแต่งตั้งผู้แทนถาวรไทยประจำองค์การห้ามอาวุธเคมี (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons: OPCW) ต่อนาย Fernando Arias ผู้อำนวยการใหญ่ OPCW 

 

โอกาสนี้ เอกอัครราชทูตฯ ได้เน้นย้ำการปฏิบัติตามพันธกรณีของไทยตามอนุสัญญาฯ และแสดงความพร้อมของไทยที่จะให้ความร่วมมือกับ OPCW อย่างเต็มที่

 

OPCW ก่อตั้งขึ้นในปี 2540 (ค.ศ. 1997) มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสร้างโลกปลอดอาวุธเคมีและมีภารกิจในการปฏิบัติให้เป็นไปตามอนุสัญญาห้ามอาวุธเคมี  โดยอนุสัญญาฯ มีผลใช้บังคับเมื่อวันที่ 29 เมษายน 2540 ปัจจุบันมีรัฐภาคี 193 ประเทศ โดยไทยเข้าเป็นรัฐภาคี เมื่อวันที่ 9 มกราคม 2546 ทั้งนี้ OPCW ได้รับรางวัลโนเบลสาขาสันติภาพเมื่อปี 2556

 

On 13 March 2024, His Excellency Mr. Asi Mamanee presented his Letter of Credentials to His Excellency Mr. Fernando Arias, Director-General of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), officially accrediting him as the Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to the OPCW.

 

On this occasion, the Ambassador also reiterated his commitment to fostering cooperation with the OPCW and reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness to fulfill its obligations under the Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC), pledging ongoing support and cooperation.
