นิทรรศการ “ชุดไทย: ความรู้ งานช่างฝีมือ และแนวปฏิบัติการแต่งกาย” ณ กรุงเฮก

รัฐบาลไทย โดยกระทรวงวัฒนธรรมได้จัดนิทรรศการ “CHUD THAI: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” ระหว่างวันที่ ๙–๑๐ เมษายน ๒๕๖๙ ณ โรงแรม Hotel Des Indes กรุงเฮก เนเธอร์แลนด์ ซึ่งนับเป็นหมุดหมายสำคัญทางวัฒนธรรมในการยกระดับ “ชุดไทย” สู่เวทีการออกแบบร่วมสมัยในระดับสากลเมื่อวันที่ ๙ เมษายน ๒๕๖๙ สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าสิริวัณณวรี นารีรัตนราชกัญญา ได้เสด็จมาทรงเป็นองค์ปาฐกและทรงบรรยายพิเศษในหัวข้อ “วิวัฒนาการของชุดไทยและผ้าไทย” ประกอบการแสดงแบบชุดไทยพระราชนิยม ทั้ง ๘ แบบ ได้แก่ ชุดไทยเรือนต้น ชุดไทยจิตรลดา ชุดไทยอมรินทร์ ชุดไทยบรมพิมาน ชุดไทยดุสิต ชุดไทยจักรี ชุดไทยศิวาลัย และชุดไทยจักรพรรดิ รวมถึงเสื้อพระราชทานสำหรับบุรุษทั้ง ๓ แบบ ซึ่งสะท้อนถึงเกียรติยศและความภาคภูมิใจของผู้สวมใส่ ตลอดจนพัฒนาการของมรดกเครื่องแต่งกายไทยที่สืบทอดมาอย่างยาวนาน

ภายในงาน ยังมีการสาธิตกระบวนการสร้างสรรค์เครื่องประดับไทยโบราณ อาทิ งานจักสานย่านลิเภา และงานปักดิ้นเงินดิ้นทอง เป็นต้น โดยกิจกรรมทั้งหมดถูกนำเสนอในฐานะงานออกแบบร่วมสมัยที่สะท้อนโครงสร้างเชิงศิลป์ มิใช่เพียงวัตถุทางประวัติศาสตร์ หากแต่เป็นมรดกที่ยังคงมีชีวิตและสามารถพัฒนาได้อย่างต่อเนื่อง

งานดังกล่าวได้รับความสนใจอย่างสูง โดยมีผู้เข้าร่วมงานกว่า ๑๕๐ คน ประกอบด้วยคณะทูตานุทูตต่างประเทศและองค์การระหว่างประเทศ ผู้แทนระดับสูงจากภาครัฐและภาคเอกชน และสื่อมวลชนชั้นนำของเนเธอร์แลนด์ ตลอดจนผู้ทรงอิทธิพลและบุคคลสำคัญในแวดวงแฟชั่น ไลฟ์สไตล์ และศิลปหัตถกรรมจากทั้งในเนเธอร์แลนด์และในระดับนานาชาติ

ในการบรรยายพิเศษ สมเด็จพระเจ้าลูกเธอ เจ้าฟ้าสิริวัณณวรี นารีรัตนราชกัญญาได้ทรงถ่ายทอดแนวคิดด้านการออกแบบชุดไทยพระราชนิยมที่ผสานรากฐานทางวัฒนธรรมเข้ากับมิติร่วมสมัยและสไตล์สากล สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงพลวัตของชุดไทยที่สามารถปรับตัวและก้าวทันโลกแฟชั่นในปัจจุบันได้อย่างสง่างาม โดยทรงย้ำถึงรากฐานของการพัฒนานำชุดไทยสู่เวทีโลก สืบเนื่องมาจากพระราชปณิธานของสมเด็จพระนางเจ้าสิริกิติ์ พระบรมราชินีนำถ พระบรมราชชนนีพันปีหลวง ที่ทรงมุ่งมั่นอนุรักษ์และสืบสานมรดกทางศิลปวัฒนธรรมของชาติ โดยเฉพาะด้านเครื่องแต่งกายซึ่งเป็นหนึ่งในอัตลักษณ์สำคัญของประเทศไทยด้วยพระวิสัยทัศน์และพระอัจฉริยภาพ พระองค์ทรงศึกษาค้นคว้ำรูปแบบการแต่งกายไทยในราชสำนัก และในแต่ละยุคสมัยอย่างเป็นระบบ และทรงพระกรุณาโปรดเกล้าฯ ให้ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านประวัติศาสตร์และการออกแบบร่วมกันพัฒนา “ชุดไทยพระราชนิยม” ให้เป็นมาตรฐานการแต่งกายสำหรับสุภาพสตรีไทยที่มีความเหมาะสมทั้งในเชิงวัฒนธรรมและบริบทร่วมสมัย

“ชุดไทยพระราชนิยม” จึงถือเป็นมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมอันทรงคุณค่าที่ได้รับพระราชทานแก่ปวงชนชาวไทย เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของแนวคิดที่ส่งต่อมาสู่การพัฒนาอัตลักษณ์ไทยในบริบทโลก และเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้เกิดการต่อยอดในทุกมิติ ในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๗ คณะรัฐมนตรีมีมติเห็นชอบให้เสนอ “ชุดไทย: ความรู้ งานช่างฝีมือ และแนวปฏิบัติการแต่งกายชุดไทยประจำชาติ” ต่อองค์การยูเนสโก เพื่อพิจารณาขึ้นทะเบียนเป็นมรดกภูมิปัญญาทางวัฒนธรรมที่จับต้องไม่ได้ ในการประชุมคณะกรรมการระหว่างรัฐบาลสมัยที่ ๒๑ ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๖๙

การที่ชุดไทยพระราชนิยมได้รับการสืบสานและพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่อง สะท้อนให้เห็นถึงพลังของวัฒนธรรมไทยที่สามารถปรับตัวให้สอดคล้องกับยุคสมัย โดยยังคงรักษาแก่นแท้ไว้อย่างสมบูรณ์ งานจัดแสดงชุดไทยในครั้งนี้จึงมิใช่เพียงการอนุรักษ์ หากแต่เป็นการตีความใหม่ในมิติร่วมสมัย ที่ผสานอดีตกับปัจจุบันให้กลายเป็นทุนทางวัฒนธรรม และอัตลักษณ์ไทยได้รับการถ่ายทอดในฐานะคุณค่าที่มีชีวิต พร้อมก้าวสู่การยอมรับในเวทีโลกอย่างยั่งยืน

Thailand Showcases “CHUD THAI: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” in The Hague

Ministry of Culture of Thailand presented the exhibition “CHUD THAI: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” from 9–10 April 2026 at Hotel Des Indes, The Hague, the Netherlands. This landmark cultural event marks a significant milestone in elevating Chud Thai (Thai national costume) onto the global stage of contemporary design.

On 9 April 2026, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya graciously presided over the event and delivered a special lecture on “The Evolution of Thai Costume and Thai Textiles.” The programme featured a runway presentation of the eight royal-endorsed styles of Chud Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom, namely: Ruean Ton, Chitralada, Amarin, Boromphiman, Dusit, Chakri, Siwalai, and Chakkraphat, alongside three styles of royal-bestowed attire for men.

These ensembles reflect the dignity, pride, and cultural identity of the wearer, as well as the rich evolution of Thailand’s long-standing sartorial heritage.
The showcase also included live demonstrations of traditional Thai craftsmanship, such as yan lipao basketry and intricate gold and silver embroidery. These activities were presented through a contemporary design lens, highlighting artistic structures and creative processes. Rather than being viewed merely as historical artefacts, these crafts were positioned as living heritage—dynamic traditions that continue to evolve and inspire.

The event attracted over 150 distinguished guests, including members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from international organizations, senior officials from the public and private sectors, leading Dutch media, as well as prominent figures and influencers in fashion, lifestyle, and the creative industries from both the Netherlands and the international community.

In her special lecture, Her Royal Highness highlighted the design philosophy that harmonizes cultural heritage with contemporary expression and global aesthetics. She underscored the timeless elegance and cultural integrity of Chud Thai in today’s global fashion landscape.

Her Royal Highness also emphasised that the foundation for bringing Thai costume to the international stage originates from the royal vision of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who has been devoted to preserving and promoting Thailand’s cultural heritage, particularly traditional attire as a key element of national identity.

Through her vision and dedication, Her Majesty systematically studied historical Thai dress and, in collaboration with experts, established Chud Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom as a standardised national costume for Thai women, suitable for both cultural and contemporary contexts.

Chud Thai Phra Ratcha Niyom is thus regarded as a treasured cultural heritage bestowed upon the Thai people. It serves as a foundation for the continued development of Thai identity in a global context and inspires innovation across generations. In 2024, the Thai Cabinet approved the submission of “Chud Thai: Knowledge, Craftsmanship and Practices of the Thai National Costume” to UNESCO for consideration as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, to be reviewed at the 21st session of the Intergovernmental Committee in 2026.

The continued preservation and development of Chud Thai reflect the resilience and dynamism of Thai culture—its ability to adapt to modern times while preserving its essence. This exhibition is therefore a reinterpretation in a contemporary context—bridging past and present, transforming heritage into cultural capital, and presenting Thai identity as a living legacy ready to be embraced on the global stage.
